Research Leadership
Experts in machine learning, computational biology, structural biology, genomics, and automated laboratory systems — unified by a mission to accelerate biotech discovery with AI.
Foundation Leadership
Philip Odegard founded AI Biotechnologies in 2017 as part of the Odegard Foundation initiative to apply artificial intelligence to the hardest problems in biological research. With a philosophy that computational power and biological insight are stronger together, Philip has built the organization's portfolio of programs from the ground up — attracting interdisciplinary researchers from computational chemistry, structural biology, clinical genomics, and robotics engineering. He oversees strategy, partnerships, and funding allocation across all four research pillars.
Research Directors
Computational chemist with 14 years of experience in generative molecular design, QSAR modeling, and multi-parameter lead optimization. Previously led AI chemistry programs at two major pharmaceutical companies before joining AI Biotechnologies to focus on open-access drug discovery research.
Structural biologist and computational protein designer with expertise in protein language models, inverse folding, and enzyme engineering. Contributed to foundational work in AI-based protein structure prediction and leads AI Biotechnologies' de novo design and FoldBase programs.
Genomicist and data scientist specializing in population-scale variant discovery, polygenic risk modeling, and AI-guided oncology treatment selection. Leads collaborative genomics projects with academic medical centers across three continents, with a focus on diverse and underrepresented populations.
Robotics and process engineer who built and led the AutoLab self-driving laboratory initiative from concept to its first prospective drug discovery validation study. Combines expertise in reinforcement learning, hardware-software integration, and bioprocess engineering to build autonomous experimental platforms.
